Choose
Your Storm.

Issue No. 001 · Phoenix, AZ · The Whether Man

Notice the whether. You did not choose much of it — the wind that found you at birth, the rain of other people's moods, the slow drought of years. These came without asking.

But some storms are yours to choose. Not the easy ones. The right ones.

Ask whether, before you ask anything else.

"The storm you chose will not feel like a storm. It will feel like your life."

Ask whether, then ask how.

5 min read Posted May 19

You have been trained to ask how. How to get the job. How to win the argument. How to make them stay. Useful questions, all of them — but never the first one. Before how, ask whether. Whether you want it. Whether it is yours. Whether the version of you that gets it is one you would recognize.

A Foreword

Read this, or do not — but decide well.

What this is, what it is not, and the single question it will ask of you, again and again, until you learn to ask it of yourself.

§ 03 · A Word From the Man

I will not tell you what to do. I will ask if you have noticed the whether — and remind you that some of it, you may choose.

A great deal of your life was decided before you arrived. Where you started. Who raised you. What the world was busy doing when you got here. That part is not your fault. But there is more room than you think. The older, better question is whether. Whether to go. Whether to stay. Whether the thing you are chasing is really yours. Ask it honestly, and most things grow quieter. That is the work. This is a place to do it.
